Maria holds a Diploma of Primary Teaching, a Bachelor of Arts in Women’s Studies and Study of Religion, and is currently finalising a PhD about social justice and education policy. She has managed a range of equity and violence prevention projects, programs and events, including as Senior Project Officer for the National Safe and Supportive School Communities project and the Bullying. No way! website, a Project Leader for the Federal Government’s Success for Boys Professional Learning Program, a Project Officer in the Education Queensland Gender Equity Unit, Executive member of the Association of Women Educators and Editor of their journal, Redress, Project Officer for the Leading Social Change professional development project, and organiser of the national conferences: White Ribbon Day Every Day and Reclaiming Feminism: EnGendering Change.
Apart from working on her PhD, Maria works as a Research Assistant and Tutor for the University of Queensland and Griffith University equity and diversity projects and programs, and contributes to the national agenda for violence prevention as a member of the Advisory Group to the Australian Women Against Violence Alliance.
