Dr Maria Pallotta-Chiarolli is Senior Lecturer in the School of Health and Social Development at Deakin University, Melbourne, Australia. Her primary areas of interest are cultural diversity, gender diversity, sexual diversity and family diversity. Maria is also Founding Member of AGMC Inc (Australian GLBTIQ Multicultural Council) and member of the Victoria Police Multicultural and LGBTIQ Priorities Communities Groups.
Maria’s books include two collections of young people’s voices, writing and art called Girls Talk and Boys Stuff; So What’s a Boy: Addressing Issues of Masculinity and Schooling, Being Normal is the Only Way to Be: Adolescent Perspectives on Gender and Schooling (these last three books with Wayne Martino); and When Our Children Come Out: How to Support Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Young People.
